Do Something

Pastel green poster: a winding path with the first step marked.

A few days ago, I was reviewing the progress of a new task I had started after several unsuccessful attempts. I noticed it was gradually taking shape, and that progress motivated me to keep going. We often hear that motivation helps us start, and starting small with consistency makes things doable. But in reality, motivation fades, and after trying over and over, we often face negative feelings like doubt, anxiety, or frustration.

We might feel stuck, looking for inspiration before taking the next step, but action itself can be the key. Come to see it from another perspective.

Mark Manson said that “Action is not just the result of motivation, it’s also the cause of it.” Instead of waiting for motivation, just “Do Something.” Taking even a small step can create momentum, leading to inspiration and eventually, motivation.

So next time you feel stuck or unmotivated, just “Do Something” and take action first. Action creates inspiration, which fuels motivation, leading to even more action.

Action → Inspiration → Motivation → More Action

Have you ever experienced this cycle? I think it’s worth trying!
